Meet us at Chillventa 2026 in Nuremberg

From 13 to 15 October 2026 AGATEX will be at Chillventa in Nuremberg, the world’s leading exhibition for refrigeration, air conditioning and ventilation, and heat pumps. Georg Bauer (CEO), Harald Hochgatterer (Head of Refrigeration) and Sascha Celedin (Key Account Manager) will be on site. If you are in Nuremberg too, we look forward to meeting you.

A family company with more than 100 years of experience

AGATEX is an independent family company from Edt bei Lambach in Upper Austria, now run by the fourth generation. The company was founded in 1921 as Alpenländische Industriegaswerke, so handling gases, pressure vessels and filling has been part of our craft from the very beginning. Refrigerants have been one of our core businesses for decades.

Our customers notice that experience day to day: short distances, personal contacts and decisions made in-house.

A complete supplier for everything refrigerants

Whether automotive, commercial or industrial: we support our customers across the entire life cycle of a refrigerant.

Supply. Refrigerants across the full spectrum, from established refrigerants through the new generations to natural refrigerants, in packaging from the service can to the drum.

Accessories from a single source. Refrigeration oils, leak detection agents and A/C service units come from the same source as the refrigerant itself.

Take-back, reclaim and disposal. We take back used refrigerant, reclaim it in our own plant and properly dispose of whatever is beyond recovery.

Advice. Our people are trained and come from the field. On any question about refrigerants, conversions and handling you get an answer you can work with.

Our own infrastructure

What we offer, we do ourselves. In Edt bei Lambach we run our own filling plant and our own laboratories. For the periodic inspection of refrigerant cylinders and drums we operate a TÜV-certified test centre on site. Our quality and environmental management is certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.

Member of Euredia

AGATEX is a member of Euredia, the European association of refrigerant distributors, fillers and reclaimers. Euredia works for the effective implementation of EU regulations. This puts us at the table where the framework of our industry is shaped, and we pass that knowledge on to our customers.

Let’s meet in Nuremberg

Chillventa is where the refrigeration and HVAC industry meets every two years. If you want to talk about your refrigerant supply, about take-back and reclaim, or about the inspection of your cylinders: get in touch, we will arrange a meeting and are happy to come to your stand.

AGATEX has joined Euredia

AGATEX has joined Euredia

The Euredia board has confirmed our admission: AGATEX is now a member of the European Refrigerants Distributors and Reclaimers Association. We are joining the European association of the companies that distribute, repack and reclaim refrigerants in Europe.

Who Euredia is

Euredia was founded on 24 June 2026 by ten companies from nine countries — the first pan-European association of its kind. It is based in Brussels, Avenue des Arts 47. It represents the distributors, repackers and reclaimers of refrigerants across Europe — that part of the value chain responsible for making sure refrigerants reach the European market legally, safely and responsibly, and leave it properly at the end of their life.

The association has set itself three priorities:

Compliance. European climate legislation — the F-Gas Regulation above all — only delivers if it is actually complied with. Euredia works to keep the rules applicable to every market participant alike and workable in practice.

Market integrity. The illegal trade in F-gases is not a fringe phenomenon. It undermines the quota system, exposes users to material of unknown quality and penalises every company that plays by the rules. Euredia brings the industry’s voice together towards the Commission, the Member States and customs authorities.

Circularity. Recovery, recycling and reclaim are the lever that absorbs the shrinking quota volumes. Reclaimed refrigerant reaches virgin-equivalent quality, is not counted against the quota, and is the environmentally sounder route. Euredia works to see these routes strengthened rather than obstructed by regulation.

Why we are joining

The refrigerants business is no sideline for AGATEX. We supply refrigerants across the full spectrum — from the classic HFCs through the HFO generation to the natural refrigerants — along with refrigeration oils, leak detection agents and A/C service units. We take back used refrigerant, reclaim it and properly dispose of what is beyond recovery. For the periodic inspection of refrigerant cylinders and drums we operate a TÜV-certified test centre, and filling is done on our own site.

“Refrigerants are a strategic business for us. As a full-service supplier — from delivery through take-back and reclaim to proper disposal — joining Euredia is a logical step. We see ourselves as a long-term partner to the refrigerants industry, and we want to help shape the framework where it is made.”

Georg Bauer, CEO of AGATEX

A company that covers the entire life cycle of a refrigerant is touched by every change of rules in several places at once: in the quota, in take-back, in the inspection of the containers, in whether a given substance may still be placed on the market. That is precisely why we want a seat at the table where those rules are discussed — rather than learning about them when they appear in the Official Journal.

What it means for our customers

Nothing changes about supply. A good deal changes in what we can add to it:

Knowing earlier. Quota volumes, substance restrictions, the PFAS debate, the current discussion around TFA as the degradation product of HFO refrigerants: all of this decides availability and price over the medium term. We will now receive these developments first hand and pass them on in our technical advice.

Shaping rather than following. As a member we bring in the perspective of an independent, mid-sized distributor and reclaimer — the perspective, in other words, of the companies that have to put the rules into practice every day.

Reclaim with a tailwind. The more firmly circularity is anchored in regulation, the more attractive the take-back of used refrigerant becomes — for the environment as much as for our customers’ costing.

About AGATEX

AGATEX is an independent family business with roots going back to 1921, headquartered in Edt bei Lambach, Upper Austria, with an office for the Asia-Pacific region in Bangkok. We specialise in the distribution, development and production of speciality chemicals and refrigerants for industrial processes — for vehicles as much as for commercial and industrial refrigeration.

AGATEX at the Dornbirn Global Fiber Congress

AGATEX at the Dornbirn Global Fiber Congress

Process chemicals for the fibre industry — and an application lab to prove them. A look back at three days in Dornbirn, and at why close cooperation is the only way innovation happens in this industry.

Fibre chemistry, up close

The Dornbirn Global Fiber Congress is one of the few places where the entire fibre world sits in one room: producers, machine builders, research institutes and brand owners. That is exactly why we were there — to present our process chemicals for the fibre industry, and to talk to the people who actually run the lines.

Events like this matter more than their programme suggests. The fibre industry does not move forward in isolation. Everyone holds one piece of the puzzle, and progress only happens when those pieces get put on the table together.

What we brought with us

Our range covers the fibre process from spinning through to finishing:

Brand Application
LAMBAFIL® Spin finishes for staple fibre, filament and spunbond lines
LAMBAFIL® Hydrophilic agents for hygiene, wipes and absorbent applications
LAMBAPHOB® Hydrophobic agents for water-repellent technical textiles
LAMBAFELT® Antistatic agents for carding, needling and downstream handling
LAMEX® Defoamers for wet processes and finishing baths
CABERTEX® Flame retardants for technical and protective textiles

Our own application lab

A product list on its own does not solve anyone’s problem. What makes the difference is being able to test, adjust and reformulate before anything goes onto a production line. We run our own application lab for exactly that purpose: we reproduce the relevant steps of the process, measure the values that matter to the customer, and iterate until the result fits.

For hygiene applications that means strike-through, rewet, run-off, repeated liquid strike and surface tension. For spinning it means running behaviour, deposit formation and downstream processability. The data comes before the trial, not after it.

An extended workbench, not a catalogue

Many of our customers work with us the way they would work with an in-house development team — as an extended workbench. They bring us the fibre, the line parameters and the target values; we bring the chemistry, the test capacity and the formulation experience. The product that comes out at the end is built around that specific process, not picked from a shelf.

That approach only works if we stay close to the industry. Congresses like Dornbirn are a large part of how we do that: the conversations at the booth tell us what producers are working on long before it appears in a specification.

Proud to be part of this chain

Many excellent conversations at our booth, strong presentations throughout the programme, and once again that reminder of just how versatile fibres can be. Our process chemicals sit at a small but critical point in the fibre process — and helping our customers get their product right is what we are here for.

Our thanks to the organisers for the work behind the scenes, and to everyone who took the time to talk with us.
